Black Moon with Motion Sickness
Black Moon Electro-Chamber Operetta is an interdisciplinary/multimedia Operetta based on Arnold Schoenberg’s German Expressionist Melodrama “Pierrot Lunaire.” This newly realized work takes the original masterpiece, and its original text by French poet Albert Giraud, and turns it inside out with an ElectroFunk edge. Major Scurlock and Monstah Black’s Pierrot is a symbolic allegory for the Contemporary African American Male experience, illustrated through Popular Music genres associated with the African American Experience such as Afro Beat and House. This theatrical adventure is an electric experience both visually and sonically.

In their quest they uncover much—details of their captors’ European pasts, survival skills of the Native peoples, and the perilous nature of human desire.
